The State Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety held a seminar-presentation of the draft regulatory legal act “Basic Ionizing Radiation Sources Safety Rules”. The purpose of the development of new Rules is to improve the regulatory requirements for radiation safety of the use of ionizing radiation sources in accordance with international standards of the IAEA and EU Directive 2013/59/EURATOM.
IAEA Consultancy and Technical Meeting on Applying the Concepts of Exemption and Clearance of Radioactive Materials from Regulatory Control was held in Vienna last week. The Deputy Chairman of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine Ruslana Tripaylo and the Head of Radiation Safety and Scientific and Technical Activity Unit of the State Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety Tetyana Kilochytska represented Ukraine during the event.
The State Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety was granted the status of the main organization performing scientific and technical activities in construction (hereinafter referred to as the basic organization). The activities of the Center in developing the regulatory framework to establish the technical level of the construction industry in nuclear energy will expand henceforth.
On 12 March, the 31st Annual Regulatory Information Conference (RIC) organized by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (Nuclear Regulatory Commission) has started in Washington, (USA). The Ukrainian delegation included representatives of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine (SNRIU) and the State Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety (SSTC NRS).
Last week a workshop on project “Support and assistance to strengthen the capabilities of the Belarusian nuclear regulatory authority Ministry of Emergencies/Gosatomnadzor in the field of licensing and oversight of Belarusian NPP construction” BE/RA/08 (Component E “Mobile Radiation Controls”) was held in SSTC NRS office.
