Junior researcher of the NPP Thermohydraulic and Probabilistic Safety Analysis Department of the State Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety (SSTC NRS) Anastasiia Ilina participated in the meeting of the Probabilistic Safety Analysis Working Group of the Forum of the State Nuclear Regulatory Authorities of the Countries operating VVERs (PSA WG of the VVER Regulatory Forum), which took place in Bratislava (Slovak Republic) in early June.
According to the expert, the tasks of the Working Group are to compare experience of the member countries on PSA application, in particular familiarize with the latest studies, determine and discuss urgent issues, compare the approaches applied to identify the possibility of further national practice improvement.
The meeting was aimed at discussing the results of activities under the Working Group tasks, namely: use of probabilistic safety analysis for lifetime management (long-term operation); comparison of the available information on monitoring maintenance efficiency of structures, systems and components or similar national practices; discussion of the status of considering and implementing the recommendations made within the previous mandates in the Working Group member countries.
During the working meetings, experts of the Slovak Republic provided a number of presentations on improving the regulatory framework for NPP operation regulation and the latest achievements in PSA related studies.
The experts from Ukraine are responsible for the implementation of Task 2 “Use of probabilistic safety analysis for lifetime management (long-term operation)”. It involves comparison of the national legislative, regulatory framework and experience on long-term operation of power units, including aging management, in particular regarding PSA role in these processes.
Representatives of ÚJD SR (Slovak Republic), NRSC (Armenia), STUK (Finland), SUJB (Czech Republic), GRS (Germany), SSTC NRS (Ukraine), HAEA (Hungary), SEC NRS (Russia), and BNRA (Bulgaria) also participated in the meeting.
