Within the cooperation of the State Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety (SSTC NRS) with Techneo Global LLC, Nuclear Power Institute of China (NPIC) and Chengdu Hezong Nuclear Power Engineering Corporation (NPEC), a ceremonial opening of the “Ukrainian-Chinese Joint Scientific and Research Platform on NPP Safety Issues and Ageing Management” took place and the Framework Cooperation Agreement was signed to expand and continue cooperation between institutions.
Cooperation of the enterprise with the Nuclear Power Institute of China and Chengdu Hezong Nuclear Power Engineering Corporation has already been started successfully. The development of safety analysis guidelines for NPPs with VVER is among the implemented projects. Its objective was to systematize approaches and recommendations of the IAEA and EU countries, as well as SSTC NRS experience in safety analysis for NPPs.
“I hope that the provision of services on NPP safety analysis by our organization will allow our Chinese partners to strengthen scientific and technical capabilities in issues related to NPP safety and will be an excellent basis for further joint activities in the sphere of safety analysis justification for NPPs in China”, Ihor Shevchenko, SSTC NRS Director, commented.
Besides, during the working meeting, NPIC experts presented a number of proposals for promising areas of cooperation in the field of analysis and prediction of radiation consequences of accidents and emergencies and response to them.
“According to the results of the discussion, we signed the Memorandum. Cooperation with China is one of the priorities for us, and I am pleased to say that these are not only words. We make absolutely clear, coordinated and real and not just declarative steps to expand and continue cooperation, which is beneficial for both parties”, Ihor Shevchenko concluded.
