Experts of the State Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety (SSTC NRS) carried out training for representatives of the Nuclear Emergency Management and Response Center of the Shandong Province in China regarding the general practice of Ukraine on the implementation of emergency preparedness and response, general NPP safety issues and Chornobyl NPP accident.
The training course was arranged by the Qindao Xianchu Energy Development Group Co LTD (hereinafter called Xianchu Company) and Shandong Province Emergency Center under the Agreement on Training of Nuclear Emergency Management and Response signed with the SSTC NRS in June 2019.
Mr. Sink, Xianchu Company Manager, opened the kickoff meeting and welcomed SSTC NRS experts, wished fruitful work and stated that Emergency Center representatives are mainly interested in general safety issues of Ukrainian NPPs, approaches to emergency preparedness and response in Ukraine, what regulatory documents are used in the development of this system, reasons and urgent measures to mitigate consequences of ChNPP accident.
Taking into account all requests, Shandong Emergency Center representatives were provided with the general information on operation and safety management of NPPs in Ukraine, fundamental international regulations on emergency preparedness and response. The experts considered the National Emergency Preparedness and Response System and the accident at ChNPP.
The lectures were supported by thematic videos and presentations, which aroused great interest of the listeners and encouraged them to participate in vivid discussions.
It should be noted that Shandong Emergency Center was created in 2011 after the accident at Fukushima-1 NPP. According to Chinese experts, they have little experience and lectures provided by Ukrainian colleagues are very useful for sharing experience.
