On 1 February 2018, new book “Ukrainian Post-Apocalypse” was presented in the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. The event was attended by well-known Ukrainian writers, literary critics, scientists, cultural workers, and power engineers. The decoration of the evening was performance of talented musician Victor Pashnyk and singer, Honored Artist of Ukraine Ruslana Lotsman, as well as incredibly atmospheric Katya Chilly and “BramaDo” band.
On the eve of winter holidays, many families are trying to buy Christmas trees, without which Christmas and New Year do not seem possible. Often, fir trees at markets were taken directly from forests and forest plantations. On 21-24 November 2017, the Joint China-Ukraine Xianchu Nuclear Power Decommissioning Academy will be first presented in Ukraine during the International Forum “Innovation Market”. Oleksandr Kukhotsky, expert of the State Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety, took the first place in the ETSON Award Contest of scientific papers among young scientists in the field of nuclear and radiation safety. The Contest was held on 6 November 2017 in Paris in the framework of the annual EUROSAFE Forum 2017.

On 29 September, an official representative of certification authority TÜV NORD CERT GmbH in the territory of Ukraine International Management Service LLC presented a certificate of conformance for the quality management system with the requirements of international standard ISO 9001: 2015 to the SSTC NRS.

The experts of the Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety (SSTC NRS) conducted a survey on territories with radioactively contaminated materials near Kropyvnytskyi (Kirovohrad region). The experts revealed a slight increase of the radiation background with the main contribution by cesium-137 (Cs-137) that is the radionuclide of man-made origin.
On 29 July 2017, experts of the State Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety (SSTC NRS) visited the last city of the route within the information tour “Radiation Survey by Towns of Ukraine”. Because of rain, people in Korosten did not bring foodstuff. However, experts of the mobile laboratory managed to conduct survey of the local areas. Dose measuring experts used spectrometric equipment of the mobile laboratory to identify radionuclide content of gamma radiation.
On 28 July, the experts of the Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety (SSTC NRS) visited the city of Sarny in Rivne oblast to perform radiation survey. At the time, the city broke records according to the number of people willing to check foodstuff, personal items and even ground for content of radionuclides.
